VPAA and HTM Dep’t. Head perform OJT observation visit in Boracay Island

By: Mrs. Mayvelyn S. Covita

The Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Moises Alexander T. Asuncion together with the Department Head of HTM, Mrs. Mayvelyn S. Covita conducted an On-the-Job Training observation visit in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan last February 26-28, 2015.

Senior HTM students are deployed on five notable Resorts in the Island for their OJT from January19-March 4, 2015. There are 45 HRM students and 19 Tourism students who were detailed at: (1) Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa Philippines; (2) Ambassador in Paradise Resort Boracay; (3) Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Convention Center (Hennan Group of Hotels Company); (4) Crown Regency Hotel and Convention Center; and (5) Discovery Shores Boracay Island.

Mr. John Michael C. Ibarra, the Practicum Adviser, who is with the group for the entire duration of the OJT, accompanied the administrators in visiting the above mentioned resorts to get updates on the students’ performances. It is good to note that generally our students are performing well (with few concerns which were attended to by the stay-in Practicum Coordinator, coordinating/liaising with concerned students and establishment’s management).
