SMU School of Health Sciences Honors 305 New Nurses

Last February 24, 2010, the SMU School of Health Sciences honored the newest addition to its roster of competent Marian nurses. The recognition program of the 305 new Marian nurses was graced by the attendance of the Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education, Dr. Evelyn L. Pascua, as the guest speaker, and by the university's administrators, Fr. Manuel D. Valencia, CICM, PhDEDM, President; Dr. John Octavio S. Palina, VP for Administration, Dr. Nena P. Valdez, VP for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Evangeline B. Escobar, VP for Finance and Development.

Leading the list of the proud Marian nurses is John Stephen T. Humiwat who placed 9th among 94,___ examinees nationwide. Out of 359 Marians who took the Nurse Licensure Examination in November 2009, known as the most difficult examination and one with the lowest national passing percentage of only 39.43%, 305 Marian nurses successfully made it, posting an institutional passing rate of 84.96%.
